Upcoming schedule and a look into the classroom.

Just a little update for those of you that follow LLB.
I'll be starting a couple of sets of classes in the new year. Clarksville classes will be held at Love My Baby Bump
894 Hwy 76, Suite 104, Clarksville, TN, in the Willow Chase shopping center. It is right off of exit 11 from interstate 24.  The classes start at 6pm on Wednesday, January 11th, 2012 and will run for 5 weeks, each class lasting 2.5 hours.
Nashville classes will start the following Saturday morning January 14th at 10:30am and run the same as I mentioned above.

I know a lot of moms may not see the need for childbirth classes or may not even think about taking them until the very end of pregnancy, when the realization comes that birth is eminent and are gripped with fear of the unknown. I can tell you from experience that having the knowledge of what to expect during birthing and what is actually going on in your body can help you have a shorter, easier birth, and possibly negate the need for medication. Of course this is the information age and a lot of information can be found on the Internet, however, there is A LOT of information out there and having a Childbirth Educator to ask questions to and who will hopefully help you navigate through the information you find on your own is beyond helpful. You'll also be joining a group of like-minded couples that may make you feel more comfortable about the questions you have and the things you experience in your journey though pregnancy and birth.
There is some information your Dr. will share about his/her policies and the hospital's policies where you'll be birthing. And that may be good information but there is also a lot of information left out about your options as a patient. Choosing a class or method can be daunting as there are so many to choose from. I recommend reading birth stories and other moms experiences and find what fits you and your birthing companion. Some focus more on birthing information, some focus on relaxation, some focus on more medicalized information. What you have to decide is what is best for YOU. :)

Of course as a HypnoBirthing practitioner, I recommend my classes for everyone, but I am biased :) the truth is it may not be for everyone. My classes focus on positives. Finding the positives in pregnancy, birth and anything along the way. I teach general birth information and cover "the anatomy of birth" in a positive way. We will discuss and write up you "Birth preferences", and talk a little about newborn care and breastfeeding. We will also discover breathing techniques that will make your life more comfortable and may help you clear away any anxiety that comes along in other ares of life. We'll work though any fears you have surrounding birth and I'll teach you and your birth companion relaxation techniques to use during your labor and birthing experience. I feel we cover a little of all of there is and that there is a lot more behind the name "HypnoBirthing" than most are willing to look at. Its not the pocket watch stage show you might have seen at a county fair and you will never be out of your own control. We will simply explore how to put more awareness on your mind and how it controls your body and what you feel. So if any of this sounds at all like what you are looking for, contact me for more information and lets get started in your birth journey!
